RideFlag is on a mission to make managed lanes more equitable
RideFlag drives innovation by reimagining how we move through cities by making carpooling fairer and smarter. Using privacy-first technology, it verifies vehicle occupancy without storing personal data—ensuring both accuracy and trust. Through inclusive, accessible design, RideFlag aims to make transportation more equitable, efficient, and sustainable for everyone on the road.
Work and Impact
As the sole UX Design intern, I am the primary designer on a three-person UX team, leading most ideation, design, and prototyping work. My responsibilities cover the full UX process—from research and ideation to prototyping—with occasional client presentations and QA support.
I have contributed to a variety of projects, including building a design system, designing an applet for AI human face detection training, refreshing the app's help center, improving client-facing features and the company website. This experience has allowed me to take ownership of diverse initiatives while growing as a UX designer.

Reflection
Getting Up to Speed, Stat!
With no prior knowledge about HOV lanes or managed lane systems (I don't even drive!), I had to quickly learn the policies, terminology, and challenges of the industry to design effectively for both users and clients. This experience strengthened my ability to research unfamiliar domains and translate complex systems into intuitive user experiences.
Designing in a Fast-Paced team
Working in a small startup taught me to wear many hats and to adapt quickly to shifting priorities. I learned to balance speed with design quality while ensuring consistency across evolving projects.
Communicating with Clarity and Impact
Presenting to clients and collaborating with cross-functional teammates helped me strengthen my ability to explain design choices clearly, justify UX recommendations, and align diverse perspectives around a shared vision.
